Day Trip to the Corona del Inca Crater

Prepare to be awed by the breathtaking blue expanse of the Corona del Inca crater, a natural gem in La Rioja on our day trip from Villa Unión.

Description

At the designated time, we'll collect you from your hotel in Villa Unión. We'll embark on a scenic trip through the landscapes of Argentina's La Rioja region in a rugged 4x4 vehicle. Our first destination is the Jagüe Mountain Range, with an option to stop for breakfast before heading to the Quebrada del Peñón Gorge. From there, we'll enter the Laguna Brava Provincial Reserve, known for its saltwater lagoons and Andean wildlife such as vicuñas and guanacos.

Continuing through the Pampa del Veladero, a desert valley, you'll see colossal ice mounds due to a natural phenomenon. After a break to enjoy your packed picnic lunch, we’ll follow the Veladero River bed to Mount Pissis, which stands at 6,882 meters (22,578 feet) above sea level.

At the base of Mount Pissis, the Corona del Inca awaits at an elevation of 5,500 meters (18,044 feet). This crater contains a lake formed by meltwater. Upon reaching it, we’ll tour this captivating environment, allowing you to immerse yourself in its natural beauty.

After exploring the Corona del Inca crater, we'll return to your Villa Unión hotel, arriving approximately 15 hours after our pickup.
