Day Trip Details
You can choose from the following tour options when making your reservation. Both itineraries include hotel pickup in Villa Unión, transportation in an offroading vehicle, and a guide. Both routes will traverse high elevations ranging from 2,500 to 4,500 meters (8,200 to 14,760 feet).
Laguna Brava (8.5 Hours)
The journey begins at your hotel in Villa Union, heading north towards Vinchina. After arriving in Vinchina, we will continue through the Quebrada de la Troya, where dinosaur footprints can be spotted. The small town of Jagüé awaits us at the end of this gorge.
Departing from Jagüé, we will proceed through the Quebrada Santo Domingo, noting various mountain shelters built between 1862 and 1874. Our destination is the Laguna Brava Provincial Reserve, a high Andean saltwater lake near the Argentine-Chilean border.
Our exploration will start at the Laguna Brava Viewpoint, where we may encounter vicuñas, guanacos, and other Andean wildlife. We will then visit the Golfito de los Flamencos to observe flamingos up close.
Before returning to Villa Union, we will stop at Laguna Brava to see the remnants of an airplane that made an emergency landing here in 1964.
Laguna Brava & Geysers (10 Hours)
This extended option includes a tour of the Laguna Brava geysers. We will explore the volcanic phenomena and discuss its significance.
We will then visit a stone shelter in Laguna Brava, an old building used by mule drivers that now serves as a viewpoint to admire the lagoon and the surrounding highlands.
Finally, we will return to your hotel in Villa Union.
