In this activity, you'll discover all the secrets to a leg of Spanish ham and try one of the star products of the Spanish food scene.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet on Paseo Delicias ("Delicias Street") for a visit to a ham drying factory in Villares de la Reina.
Upon arrival, we'll proceed to the Experience Room to view an introductory video about the factory's history and its founder. The main steps, including cutting, salting, curing, and processing of Iberian ham, will be covered before it is sold.
We'll learn to differentiate between various types of Iberian ham based on the pigs' breed and diet. This masterclass will enhance our knowledge on distinguishing them.
Then, we will don the necessary equipment for a factory tour to discover how this fine ham is produced. Salamanca is recognized for its culinary traditions, particularly in sausages.
Returning to the Experience Room, participants will partake in a tasting of 100% Iberian acorn-fed ham and a selection of sausages, complemented by a glass of wine from the Salamanca mountain range.
After a 2.5-hour visit, we will conclude the experience at the factory's main door.
