If you love birds, you can't miss this birdwatching tour in Villavicencio. We'll travel through a beautiful area of the Orinoquia in search of parrots, toucans, black woodpeckers and other birds native to the region.
Birdwatching in Villavicencio
We'll pick you up at 5:30 am at your hotel in Villavicencio and drive to the 'piedemonte llanero'. This area, located in the natural region of the Orinoquia, is characterized by lush forests that serve as a habitat for numerous wild birds.
First we'll have breakfast of local products in nature and then we'll take a walk along different ecological trails. These trails, which pass through a large forest reserve, will allow us to get close to the main bird habitats in the mountainous area of Villavicencio.
During this bird-watching route, we'll see numerous native species such as woodpeckers, squirrel cuckoos and bearded vultures. We'll also observe a wide variety of parrots and toucans.
Along the route, we'll discover characteristics of size, plumage and beak that allow us to distinguish one bird from another. We'll also make several stops to visit different viewpoints, where we'll watch the sunrise over these places in the Colombian department of Meta.
Finally, we'll conclude the tour by returning to your hotel in Villavicencio, where we're expected to arrive at 10:30 am.
