On this guided tour of Viseu, you'll discover the most emblematic sites of this historic Portuguese city, including its Cathedral, Roman wall, and beautiful churches.
Tour Details
We will meet at the Viseu Cathedral and begin exploring its main monuments. We will admire the Viseu Cathedral, a 12th-century cathedral known for its two towers and vaulted ceiling. We will enter the cathedral and uncover its secrets before visiting the Grão Vasco Museum in the Paço dos Três Escalões, showcasing notable paintings by Portuguese artists.
Next, we will walk to the Igreja da Misericordia, featuring a beautiful Rococo facade. Nearby, we will see the Casa do Miradouro, an important example of 16th-century architecture. Our tour will continue at the Porta do Soar, followed by a visit to the Praça Dom Duarte to admire its architecture.
We will then explore Rua Direita, lined with shops, restaurants, and cafés, including a visit to the Jewish quarter where we will sample a typical cake from Viseu.
Continuing, we will visit the City Hall, Igreja da Ordem Terceira de São Francisco, and the Solar dos Condes de Prime. We will walk along the Roman wall of Viseu until we reach the Jardim de Santo António and see the Casa do Cruzeiro and the Pórtico do Fontão.
The tour concludes at the Fontelo Park, where we will enter a nearby winery for a tasting of traditional wine. The guided tour lasts 4 hours.
