Join our 1 Cent Magenta tour to explore the history of British Guyana and uncover the secrets behind the world's most valuable and elusive stamp.

Description

We'll pick you up at your Georgetown hotel at the scheduled time for a tour focusing on colonial Guyana's history. We'll start at Georgetown National Park to see manatees, significant to Guyana, which were featured on stamps in 1993.

Next, we delve into the British Guyana 1-cent Magenta, known as the world's rarest stamp. Our journey includes a visit to the Walter Rodney archives, where we will view an original Royal Gazette newspaper, which first featured this historic postage stamp.

We continue to the Guyana National Museum, the precise location where the British Guyana 1-cent Magenta stamp was produced, to explore its historical significance.

Our next stop is the philatelic shop at the Georgetown Post Office, where you'll have the chance to purchase unique stamps from Guyana.

We will also visit a turtle conservation center to meet giant yellow-legged and red-legged turtles. Following this, we will head to the Secret Garden Restaurant for a traditional British meal with a Guyanese twist.

The tour concludes with a return to your hotel, after a fascinating 4-hour journey through history and nature.
