Description
We'll pick you up at your Georgetown hotel for a tour of colonial Guyana's history focusing on the British Guiana 1-cent Magenta. Our first stop is Georgetown National Park, where manatees await us, notable for being featured on Guyana's stamps in 1993.
Next, we will delve into the history of the British Guyana 1-cent Magenta at the Walter Rodney archives, viewing an original Royal Gazette newspaper that featured this stamp.
We will then visit the Guyana National Museum, where the 1-cent Magenta stamp was produced. Learn about its historical significance and detail.
Our penultimate stop is a visit to the philatelic shop in the Georgetown Post Office, where you can purchase intriguing stamps from Guyana.
As we near the end of our tour, we’ll visit a turtle conservation center to meet the giant yellow-legged and red-legged turtles. We will conclude the tour with a meal at the Secret Garden Restaurant, featuring a traditional British meal with a Guyanese twist.
The tour lasts 4 hours, concluding with a return to your hotel.
