Join our 1 Cent Magenta tour to explore the history of British Guyana and uncover the secrets behind the world's most valuable and elusive stamp.

Description

We'll pick you up at your Georgetown hotel at the scheduled time for a tour focused on colonial Guyana's history. Our first stop will be Georgetown National Park to observe manatees, significant creatures in Guyana.

Next, we will delve into the history of the British Guyana 1-cent Magenta, recognized as the world's rarest stamp. The visit includes the Walter Rodney archives to view an original Royal Gazette newspaper, where the stamp was first discovered.

Our tour continues at the Guyana National Museum, the original site of the British Guyana 1-cent Magenta stamp's production. Understand its historical significance and its context within its era.

We will also visit the philatelic shop in the Georgetown Post Office to purchase various stamps from Guyana.

Our final wildlife encounter will be at a turtle conservation center, featuring giant yellow-legged and red-legged turtles. We will conclude with a meal at the Secret Garden Restaurant, enjoying a traditional British meal with a Guyanese twist.

The tour will end with your return to the hotel, completing a 4-hour journey through history and nature.
