Cruise Experience on Lake Wanaka Islands

By reserving this experience, you have the option to explore Lake Wanaka in three distinct ways. All alternatives commence from Roys Bay at the scheduled departure time:

Cruise to Ruby Island (1 hour)

Selecting this route means we’ll set sail on a catamaran at 1 pm across the remarkable South Island lake of New Zealand. Prepare to see Wanaka from a refreshing perspective!

After about 15 minutes of sailing, we will dock at Ruby Island, undoubtedly a highlight of this region! Here, you can step ashore to enjoy a delightful walk around the picturesque island, capturing moments from its numerous scenic viewpoints. You’ll surely be enchanted!

Cruise to Stevensons Island (2 hours)

If you're eager to explore a more secluded island, we suggest opting for the boat trip to Stevensons Island, which departs from Wanaka at 3 pm.

This option allows us to sail for around 45 minutes on Lake Wanaka before reaching the island. Here, we recommend participating in a 30-minute guided tour to unveil the native wildlife and vegetation. Alternatively, feel free to roam and discover at your own pace! Whichever choice you make, the spectacular views of the Southern Alps from Stevensons Island are bound to leave you in awe.

Cruise to Mou Waho Island (3.5 hours)

This option offers a visit to Mou Waho Island, a predator-free nature reserve managed by the Department of Conservation, where you'll encounter a glacier-formed lake at its summit.

At 9 am, we will convene in Wanaka before setting sail to the island. Upon arrival, a 2-hour hike awaits to unveil the natural wonders of Mou Waho. We will ascend to the lookout point for a truly breathtaking view of the landscape! Additionally, you will gain insights into the local flora and fauna, geology, and the rich colonial and Maori history.
