Visiting the memorial and museum of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp is crucial to understand the horrors of the Second World War. This day trip from Warsaw offers insights into its history.
Auschwitz Day Trip
The haunting reality of the Nazi concentration and extermination camps of World War II can be better understood through a visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp. The day starts with a pickup at your hotel in Warsaw, followed by a drive of approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to O?wi?cim, Poland. Between 1940 and 1945, this town witnessed horrific acts committed by the Nazis, including the establishment of Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau, now combined as the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, founded in 1947.
Your guided tour will explore areas where inmates lived, including prison blocks and barracks surrounded by barbed wire fencing. The tour also includes the crematoriums and gas chambers where over one million people were killed and the railway tracks that led many prisoners to their deaths. This experience is designed to honor the lives lost and educate visitors to prevent similar atrocities in the future.
After the tour, you will return to Warsaw, arriving back at your hotel 15 hours after pickup.
