Warwick Castle is one of the oldest Medieval fortresses in the United Kingdom. It was attacked in 1264, besieged in 1642, and damaged by fire in 1871, yet remains well-preserved. Originally used as a military stronghold in the Hundred Years War, it was granted to Sir Fulke Greville in the early 17th century and later owned by the Earls of Warwick until 1978, when it opened to the public.

The castle is a major attraction for tourists and locals. Visitors can explore the landscaped Capability Brown gardens, medieval vaults, and the former private residence of the Earl. For those interested in outdoor activity, climbing the towers and ramparts offers breathtaking views. Seasonal events include a jousting tournament (summer only), displays of birds of prey, and demonstrations of the world's largest trebuchet launching a fireball.

Opening Times

Warwick Castle is open every day except 25th December, from 10 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday and from 10 am to 5 pm on weekends. Last admission is one hour before closing.
