With this hike around Miles canyon, you'll observe the impressive scenery that the Yukon has to offer and learn about the gold rush stories throughout Whitehorse.

Miles Canyon Hike

At the indicated time, we will meet at the Sternwheeler Hotel main door in Whitehorse. We will take a bus to start our hiking route along the Yukon River and explore the area around the Miles canyon.

During the three-hour hike, we will navigate around the volcanic rocks of the Miles Canyon and enjoy views of forests and trails highlighted by the turquoise color of the Yukon River.

As we continue through the outskirts of Whitehorse, we will learn about the area's history, particularly the gold rush, which significantly influenced the development of the city and established it as the finish point for paddle-wheel riverboats navigating the river.

To understand more about the gold rush history, we will visit Canyon City, a ghost town designated as a Yukon government Heritage Site. The Miles Canyon presented one of the toughest challenges for those traveling through the Yukon River during the 1898 gold rush.

We will return to Whitehorse at approximately 4 pm.
