Miles Canyon Hike

At the specified time, we'll meet at the Sternwheeler Hotel main door in Whitehorse. A bus will take us on our hiking route along the Yukon River to explore the area around the Miles Canyon.

We will hike for two hours around the volcanic rocks of Miles Canyon, enjoying views filled with forests and trails and the turquoise color of the Yukon River.

As we continue through the outskirts of Whitehorse, more information about the area's history and its significance in the city’s development will be provided. The gold rush significantly influenced Whitehorse's establishment as the end point for paddle-wheel riverboats navigating the river.

To deepen our understanding of the gold rush history, we will visit Canyon City, a ghost town designated as a Yukon government Heritage Site. During the 1898 gold rush, the Miles Canyon was a challenging obstacle for travelers on the Yukon River.

We will return to Whitehorse at approximately 4:30 pm.
