Whitehorse Ice Fishing

The day begins at 1 pm at the Sternwheeler Hotel & Conference Centre from where we'll head to one of the many lakes in the Yukon. This territory is notable for its variety of lakes and rivers, making ice fishing an ideal activity.

We will take a snowshoe walk through the area, enjoying a unique journey over the frozen terrain. Once we reach the lake chosen by the guide, we'll engage in Ice fishing, a tradition rooted in over 4000 years of history. Upon arrival at the lake in Whitehorse, we'll drill a hole through the ice, which may be up to 1 metre thick in winter.

Next, we'll create a small bonfire to stay warm and gather around the hole to start fishing. The Yukon lakes are home to various fish species, including northern pike, lake trout, arctic grayling, and rainbow trout.

If we are lucky and catch a fish, our guide will prepare it and cook it on the fire, offering a meal from scratch.

Finally, we will return to the starting point by 5 pm.
