Whitehorse Ice Fishing

The day begins at 1 pm at the Sternwheeler Hotel & Conference Centre from where we'll head to one of the many lakes in the Yukon. This territory stands out particularly because of its variety of lakes and rivers, making ice fishing a suitable activity for this area.

We will take a snowshoe walk through the area, enjoying a journey over the frozen territory. Once we reach the lake chosen by the guide, we will engage in Ice fishing, a historic activity that dates back 4000 years. Upon arrival at the lake in Whitehorse, we will drill a hole through the ice, which can be up to 1 metre thick in winter.

Next, we'll make a small bonfire to keep warm and sit around the hole to begin fishing. The Yukon lakes host a variety of fish including northern pike, lake trout, arctic grayling, and rainbow trout.

If we do catch a fish, our guide will slice it and cook it on the fire, providing a meal from scratch.

Finally, we'll return to the starting point by 5 pm.
