Delve into the history of the Tang Dynasty, Shakyamuni, and Emperor Gaozong on this private tour of the Famen Temple and the Qianling Mausoleum.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Xi'an and set off on a 1.5-hour journey to the Famen Temple, an important Buddhist temple in China that houses the relics of Shakyamuni.
During the guided tour of the Famen Temple, lasting between 2.5 and 3 hours, we'll explore its pagoda and learn about its significance for followers of Buddha. After the temple visit, we will enjoy a typical Chinese lunch at a traditional restaurant nearby, featuring regional specialties. Following lunch, we'll proceed to the Qianling Mausoleum, constructed 1300 years ago at an altitude of more than 1000 meters (3280 feet).
Upon arrival, we'll walk the "spiritual path" to the mausoleum's entrance, which commemorates the members of the House of Li, the imperial family of the Tang Dynasty. At the gate, we will encounter two stone lions.
We will take a guided tour of the complex, visiting the tombs of Emperor Gaozong and Empress Wu, as well as Prince Yide's Mausoleum, where we will view impressive murals depicting scenes of palace life. After the tour, we'll return to your hotel in Xi'an, arriving 8 hours after pickup.
