Discover the culture and traditions of rural Myanmar on this day trip to Twantay Township from Yangon: admire the Shwesandaw Pagoda and watch typical local handicrafts being made!
Twantay Day Trip
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Yangon at the scheduled time and set off on the hour-and-a-half drive southwest in the direction of Twantay Township, also called Twante.
Built on the banks of the Yangon River, Twante has earned a reputation for its handcrafted pottery. We'll have the opportunity to admire some examples of these pieces during a guided walking tour, and we'll also see how the local artisans make clay pots. Afterwards, you'll have an hour of free time to have lunch at your leisure.
Having met back up again, we'll make our way to the Shwesandaw Pagoda, one of the most well-known Buddhist temples in this area of Myanmar. They say that inside the pagoda there are relics of Buddha's hair, and it has therefore become a pilgrimage site for Buddhists.
At the end of the tour, we'll return to Yangon, where you'll be dropped back off at your hotel 10 hours after departure.
