Description
This private tour of the temples of Yogyakarta starts with a pickup from your hotel at the designated time. We will explore the historic Hindu and Buddhist shrines in Yogyakarta, located on the island of Java.
First, we will visit the Sambisari temple, a 9th-century Hindu structure located in the village of Sambisari, unearthed in 1966 and originally buried over 5 meters underground.
Next, we will proceed to the Sari temple, located 3 km from Kalasan. This 8th-century temple holds significant historical value, and we will discuss its intriguing history.
A break will be taken for lunch at a local restaurant to enjoy regional cuisine.
We will then visit the Plaosan Temple, known as the Plaosan Complex, recognized for its impressive 116 stupas and 58 shrines, a notable Buddhist site on Java.
Lastly, we will witness a breathtaking sunset at the Ijo temple, the highest temple in Yogyakarta, built during the 10th and 11th centuries under the Mataram Kingdom.
