On your chosen day, make your way to Castle Howard in York to begin your historic, self-guided tour of this spectacular building. The structure was built in 1699 for the Carlisle Branch of the Howard Family. Prepare for an authentic historical experience.
On your self-guided tour, you'll discover both the house and the gardens, or just the gardens, according to your preference. Inside the 300-year-old Palladian house, you'll have access to several rooms and grand halls.
In the gardens, enjoy the unique parkland setting common to English country houses, featuring oak and chestnut trees. Notable features of Castle Howard's gardens include the Temple of the Four Winds and the Mausoleum.
Within the estate grounds, you'll also have access to the Skelfe Adventure Playground, shops, and cafés. It is recommended to spend between 3 and 4 hours at Castle Howard.

Opening Times
Castle Howard is open every day of the week from 10 am to 5 pm. Last entry is at 3 pm.
Please note that Castle Howard will not be open on July 19, 20 & 21 and October 5 in 2024.
