Moors, Whitby & The Yorkshire Steam Railway Day Trip

We'll meet opposite the Dean Court Hotel at 9 am in York, beginning our journey through Strensall, Sheriff Hutton, and Hovingham. Our first stop is Hutton-le-Hole to see traditional stone houses and the village common. We will then drive over the North York Moors to Blakey Ridge and Ralph's Cross before arriving in Whitby. The guide will provide insights into the town's history and highlights.

You will have 2 hours and 30 minutes to explore Whitby and its attractions like the Endeavour Experience, Captain Cook Museum, Bark Endeavour, and Whitby Abbey. It is recommended to try fish and chips at the Magpie Café. Alternative drop-offs include the Harbour or the Abbey.

There is an option to experience the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, with a train leaving Whitby at 2 pm for a 45-minute journey around Grosmont and Goathland, known as Hogsmead Station in a popular wizarding series. This train ride must be paid on the day. If you choose not to take the train, the bus will take us to Goathland, where we will discuss fictional locations from the British TV show.

The tour continues to Snod Hill to learn about the RAF Fylingdales Pyramid and the Hole of Horcum. On the return to York, we will enjoy views of the Howardian Hills and Howard Castle. The tour ends at the meeting point in York at 5:15 pm.
