Moors, Whitby & The Yorkshire Steam Railway Day Trip

Meet opposite the Dean Court Hotel in York at 9 am for a day trip through Strensall, Sheriff Hutton, and Hovingham. First stop is Hutton-le-Hole to see traditional stone houses and the village common. Proceed over the North York Moors towards Blakey Ridge, the highest point, and Ralph's Cross before arriving in Whitby, where the guide will share the town’s history.

You will have 2 hours 30 minutes to explore Whitby and its attractions, including the Endeavour Experience, Captain Cook Museum, Bark Endeavour, and Whitby Abbey. Dining at the Magpie Café for fish and chips is recommended. Alternative drop-offs in Whitby include the Harbour or the Abbey.

Opportunity to ride the North Yorkshire Moors Railway exists, with a train departing Whitby at 2 pm for a 45-minute journey. This option is payable on the day. If you opt out of the train, the bus will go to Goathland, where you will learn about 'Hogsmead' and 'Aidensfield' from a popular TV show.

The tour will proceed to Snod Hill for insights on the RAF Fylingdales Pyramid and the Hole of Horcum. Return to York provides views of the Howardian Hills and Howard Castle.

The tour concludes at the meeting point in York at 5:15 pm.
