The York sightseeing bus offers an engaging way to explore the historical city of York, known for its medieval attractions and as the second most visited city in England. The open-top upper deck of the bus provides excellent views.

York Tourist Bus

The York hop-on hop-off bus includes 20 stops at key sights throughout the city. An audio guide in English is provided to highlight points of interest during the ride. The full journey without stops takes approximately one hour. Notable stops include Clifford’s Tower, Gillygate, South Bank, and Museum Gardens.

How does it work?

Your ticket is valid for 24 consecutive hours from activation. For instance, if used on Monday at 3 pm, it remains valid until Tuesday at 3 pm. You can access the bus multiple times during this period to visit major attractions such as York Castle from Clifford Tower, York Minster, Museum Gardens, and Jorvik Viking Centre.

Important

Upon booking, you must indicate the desired date for activation. You have 12 months from this date to use the ticket. Following reservation, an email with a voucher will be sent, which must be presented upon first boarding the bus.

Timetable & frequency

The York sightseeing bus operates every 30 minutes, daily from 9 am to 5:30 pm. In November and December, hours are adjusted to 10 am to 2:30 pm. The full journey, without stops, lasts 1 hour. Note that the last three buses of the day stop at Clifford Tower.
