Yorkshire Dales National Park Day Trip

Meet in Duncombe Place at the specified time in York and depart westward toward Yorkshire Dales National Park.

First, visit Bolton Castle, a notable landmark associated with Mary Queen of Scots, where you can learn about its history and enjoy views along with a traditional Yorkshire tea.

En route to the next destination, drive through Askrigg, the fictional village of Darrowby from James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small TV series.

Next, arrive at Hawes for one hour and thirty minutes to explore. Visit the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre for cheese sampling, check out The Dales Countryside Museum, and browse local shops. Afterward, head into the Yorkshire Dales National Park, passing through villages by the River Wharfe with several photo opportunities.

Stop at Kettlewell, known from the Calendar Girls movie, then continue through the countryside to Kilnsey Crag, Grassington, and Nidderdale.

Finally, visit Pateley Bridge, home to the Guinness Book of Records 'Oldest Sweet Shop in the World'.
