Bove Valley + Mount Etna Hiking Tour

We will meet at the Schiena dell'Asino car park to begin a hiking route around Etna and the Bove Valley. This trek follows the Schiena dell'Asino trail, ascending from 5906 to 6463 feet (1800 to 1970 meters).

The route includes walking through pine forests and viewing ancient lava flows, with views of the Sicilian coast and the Ionian Sea. The guide will provide insights into the formation of Etna and its caves, as well as the volcano's cultural significance to Sicily.

At the trail's end, we will observe the Bove Valley, an extensive depression over 5 miles (8 kilometers) long on the eastern side of Etna, known for its volcanic sand and lunar landscape resemblance.

After taking in the panoramic views, we will begin our descent along the Espalda del Burro, experiencing the landscape of Bove Valley from a different angle and passing by a black sand channel and a volcanic cave.

The trekking route lasts a total of 3 to 4 hours, concluding at the starting point.
