Did you know that Nakupenda means "I love you"? Find out how this beach got its name and see giant tortoises on Prison Island.

Changuu Island and Nakupenda Beach Trip

We'll pick you up from your Zanzibar hotel at the designated time and head towards the city harbour, where a boat will be waiting for us. We'll sail the Indian Ocean for about 20 minutes until we reach Changuu Island, also known as Prison Island, which was used as a prison for slaves and a quarantine centre for yellow fever.

We'll visit one of its biggest attractions: the giant tortoises, imported from Seychelles at the end of the 19th century. Next, we'll go snorkelling to discover the area's marine life, as the island was once a coral mine.

Then we'll sail to Nakupenda Beach, where we will have time to relax or swim in the turquoise waters. We will also enjoy a lunch of fish and tropical fruits.

At the end of the tour, we'll return to your hotel after a total of 8 hours.
