Walking Tour of Stone Town & Boat Ride to Prison Island
You will be picked up from your hotel in Zanzibar at the scheduled time to begin your guided walking tour of Stone Town, the historic center of the island’s capital.
During the tour, you will walk through the streets of Stone Town, learning about the history and architecture of its emblematic sights. Notable sites include the House of Wonders, housing the Museum of History and Culture of Zanzibar and the Swahili Coast; the Palace Museum; the Old Fort; and the Anglican Cathedral, where you will see the monument to the slaves.
After exploring Stone Town, you will proceed to the port for a 20-minute boat ride to Prison Island, which was originally a prison for rebellious slaves and later a quarantine station. Today, it is a tourist destination known for its endangered giant tortoises.
Finally, the tour concludes with a return to Stone Town and transport back to your hotel, lasting a total of 6 hours.
