On this guided tour of Stone Town, you'll visit the most iconic places in the capital of Zanzibar, such as the Old Fort, Sultan's Palace and Christ Church.

Stone Town Private Tour

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Zanzibar at the selected time. From there we'll walk to the centre of the capital to see some of its important monuments.

The first stop will be at the Old Fort, built by the Omanis in 1689 as a defence against the Portuguese. Next to this fortress is the House of Wonders, notable for its wooden doors with Quran inscriptions and being the first building on the island with electricity.

We will then visit the old Sultan's Palace, now a museum of the royal family of Zanzibar. We will also explore the Hamamni Persian Baths, a legacy of the empire in Stone Town.

The tour continues at the Darajani market, essential for understanding the city's history. In the final stretch, we'll visit the house where Freddy Mercury was born.

Afterwards, we'll stop outside the Christ Church, an impressive monument and a reminder of the region's slave history from the 1860s. We'll conclude this guided tour after three hours and take you back to your hotel.
