Stone Town Private Tour

On this guided tour of Stone Town, you'll visit important sites in the capital of Zanzibar, including the Old Fort, Sultan's Palace and Christ Church.

Stone Town Private Tour

Participants will be picked up from their hotel in Zanzibar at the selected time. The tour begins with a walk to the center, starting at the Old Fort, built in 1689 to defend against the Portuguese. Nearby is the House of Wonders, famous for its wooden doors and as the island's first building to have electricity.

The next stop is the Sultan's Palace, currently a museum of the royal family, followed by a visit to the Hamamni Persian Baths, a notable legacy of the empire. The tour will also explore the Darajani market, essential for understanding the city's history, and conclude at the house where Freddy Mercury was born.

The final stop is Christ Church, an important monument from the 1860s, where participants will learn about the history related to the region's slaves. The guided tour will last approximately three hours before returning to your hotel.
