Visit Stone Town, Prison Island, and the spice farms of Zanzibar on this day trip to explore key cultural and historical sites.

Tour Details

We'll meet at Forodhani Garden and begin our walking tour of Stone Town. This historic area is known for its blend of Arabic, Indian, Persian, and European influences from the 19th century. You will explore daily markets and view former palaces such as the Sultan's Palace, while learning about the island's history, including its slave trading past.

Next, we will travel to a spice plantation for a guided walking tour of a spice farm. Zanzibar, known as the "Spice Island", produces spices like nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon. You will gain insights into the cultivation of spices, herbs, and tropical fruits like coconuts, papaya, and vanilla.

After the spice farm visit, enjoy a traditional Swahili lunch at the farm.

Lastly, we will take a boat ride to Prison Island, where you will learn about its history as a prison for slaves in the 1860s. The island hosts large tortoises, including those at the Aldabra Giant Tortoise Sanctuary, featuring a 200-year-old tortoise. We will return to Stone Town to conclude the tour at the meeting point.
