Travel back in time to discover the rich history of Zaragoza, Roman Caesaraugusta to the present day. We'll enjoy a day of culture, cuisine and fun facts on this free walking tour of Zaragoza.
Tour Details
We'll start our free tour of Zaragoza in Plaza del Pilar, next to the monument to Goya. We will appreciate La Lonja, a city building with Aragonese Renaissance-style architecture from the first half of the 16th century. From here, we'll view the Ebro River.
Next, we'll head to the Museum of the Roman Forum, located in the Plaza de la Seo, to find Roman remains of what was the centre of Caesaraugusta. We will also see La Seo, or Catedral de San Salvador, and the Wall of the Parroquieta, a World Heritage Site.
We will explore the narrow streets of the historic centre, visiting picturesque spots like the Casa del Deán and the Roman Theatre. Our journey continues in El Tubo, the city's tapas area, where we will recommend tasty options. We will cross Calle Alfonso I and enter the preserved 19th-century passage of the "Ciclón".
In Plaza del Pilar, one of the largest pedestrian squares in Europe, we will see the Town Hall, Fountain of Hispanidad, and the Cathedral-Basilica of Nuestra Señora. We will also visit the Church of San Juan de los Panetes, the Roman walls, the monument to Caesar Augustus, and the Central Market. We'll conclude at Plaza de San Felipe, sharing recommendations for places to explore.
