Description

This journey begins at Zermatt Railway Station. Exchange your voucher at one of the station's ticket offices or machines. The Gornergrat reaches a height of 3,100 metres (10,170 feet) traveling over bridges, through tunnels, across lakes, and into forests. On approach to the highest point, view the pyramid-shaped Matterhorn and the Gorner Glacier, Mount Liksamm, twin summits Castor and Pollux, and the Monte Rosa massif, the highest peak in Switzerland.

At The Gornergrat's peak, enjoy the Alps at your leisure by taking pictures, hiking, or visiting the Gornergrat Hotel terrace viewpoint. A precise return time is not indicated on the train ticket, allowing you to return to Zermatt at your convenience, as long as it's on the same day. Please refer to the train's schedule.

Schedule

The first Gornergrat train leaves Zermatt Station at 7 am, with departures every 24 to 48 minutes. The last return train from Gornergrat to Zermatt is at 7:22 pm from July to August and at 5:52 pm from September to June.
