Day Trip to Soledad de Maciel & Xihuacan

Your adventure begins at 9 am, when our team will gather you from your accommodation in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, setting off toward the esteemed Xihuacan, an archaeological treasure rich in historical significance.

Upon arrival, we'll delve into the Xihuacan Museum, where an impressive collection of over 800 antiquities awaits, some dating back 3,500 years, including exquisite necklaces, ceramics, and tools, alongside a glyph that reveals the name of the city. Before exiting, take a moment to admire a ballgame crafted from baked clay and the imposing foundation of the ceremonial center, a site of ancient agricultural and ritual practices.

Next, we'll proceed to La Soledad de Maciel, a picturesque village constructed upon the remnants of Xihuacan. Here, a remarkable low relief stele known as the 'King of La Chole' greets us next to the village church. We will also have the opportunity to visit a local home showcasing a unique collection of pre-Hispanic art, unearthed over a span of three decades in the surrounding area.

Our next stop will be Barra de Potosí Beach, where you can relish a traditional lunch featuring local flavors, with options of shrimp, fajitas, fish, or meat, served with rice, fresh salad, and homemade tortillas.

With renewed energy, we will commence our return journey to Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, aiming to arrive back at your hotel by approximately 2:45 pm.
