Soledad de Maciel & Xihuacan Day Trip
You will be collected from your hotel in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo at 9 am, and then we will embark towards the remarkable Xihuacan, renowned for its archaeological richness.
Upon arrival, our first stop will be the Xihuacan Museum. This facility houses more than 800 artifacts dating back 3,500 years, including intricate necklaces, pottery, tools, and a unique glyph that marks the site's ancient identity. As we exit, we will take a moment to appreciate a clay ball game and one of the ceremonial center's pyramidal bases, which were pivotal for various agricultural and religious ceremonies.
Next, we’ll travel to La Soledad de Maciel, a rural community that rests atop the historical remnants of Xihuacan. Here, you will encounter the famous low relief stele known as 'King of La Chole', positioned beside the local church. An intriguing visit to a resident's house will reveal a collection of pre-Hispanic artifacts unearthed in the area over three decades.
Following this cultural exploration, we will proceed to Barra de Potosí Beach for a delightful local lunch. Choose from delicious options such as shrimp, fajitas, fish, or meat dishes, all served with rice, salad, and handmade tortillas.
After regaining our energy, we will return to Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, with an estimated arrival time back at your hotel around 2:45 pm.
