Mount Pilatus Day Trip

Day Trip Details

We will leave the Sihlquai Bus Terminal parking lot at the designated time, traveling by bus towards Lucerne. The route includes crossing the Albis Pass and driving alongside the Lake of the Four Cantons. In Lucerne, your guide will provide information about key sights, including the Chapel Bridge and the Jesuit Church, followed by free time to explore the Old Town.

After Lucerne, the journey continues to Kriens, where you will take a cable car ride up to Fräkmüntegg, enjoying views over the Krienseregg forests. From there, board the Dragon Ride aerial cableway with scenic panoramic windows.

At the summit of Mount Pilatus, at 2,131 metres, you can choose to walk down the Dragon Trail or hike to the summit. Time is allocated for lunch at one of the mountaintop restaurants.

For the descent, take the steepest cogwheel train in the world to Alpnachstad, followed by a boat cruise on the Lake of the Four Cantons to view the Alps. The total duration of the trip is 9.5 hours, concluding back in Zurich.

Dragon Ride cable car: Closed for maintenance from October 20 to November 7, 2025; ascent and descent via cogwheel train.Boat trip: Available from May 12 to November 2025; replaced with a food ticket from October 20 to November 14, 2025.
