Over 5,000 years of history await you on this free tour of Aachen, the capital of Charlemagne's empire and home to the oldest cathedral in Northern Europe.
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Marktplatz, the heart of Aachen. We will start this free tour to discover the important monuments of the city of Charlemagne.
We will stop at the Town Hall, an impressive Gothic style building built between 1353 and 1414 on the ruins of a palace, serving as a key political and social meeting place.
Next, we will visit the Aachen Cathedral, the first World Heritage Site in Germany, constructed beginning in 787.
Continuing, we will admire various fountains of Aachen, including the 18th-century Elissenbrunnen and the unique Puppenbrunnen with bronze puppets.
We will also see the Klenkes sculpture, a popular symbol of unity among Aachen's residents, depicting a gesture of raising the little finger.
Lastly, we will visit the Money Fountain, where we will conclude our tour after 1 hour and 45 minutes of sightseeing.
