Aberdeenshire Coastal Towns Tour

On this tour of the coastal towns of Aberdeenshire, we will explore the cliffs of northeast Scotland and visit its fishing villages. We will gather at the statue of William Wallace to begin our journey.

Our first stops will be the villages of Gardenstown and Crovie, located on red sandstone cliffs. During the drive, we will enjoy views of the Scottish countryside and learn about the towns' history.

Next, we will visit Pennan, a fishing village with 18th-century origins, known as the setting for the film Local Hero. Nearby, we will explore New Aberdour beach, recognized for its caves that served as smuggling hideouts, revealing stories from Aberdeenshire's coastline.

Our route includes a stop in Fraserburgh, noted for housing one of Scotland's earliest lighthouses and its history as a castle. We will walk through the town, observe its architecture, and visit the bustling seafood port, the largest in the region.

We will continue to Cruden Bay to explore the ruins of New Slains Castle, which dates back to the 16th century and provides insight into the area's history.

Finally, we will visit Collieston and hear the legend of smuggler Phillip Kennedy, concluding our eight-hour tour of the coastal villages of Aberdeenshire before returning to Aberdeen.
