Day Trip to Taxco
Your journey begins with a pick-up from your hotel at 7 am as we head towards Taxco de Alarcón, celebrated as the silver capital of the globe! Are you prepared to unveil the treasures of this captivating city, the silver paradise?
In approximately three and a half hours, we will arrive at our destination. Upon reaching Taxco, we will explore the local silver workshops where you’ll gain insights into the significance of the mining sector and its rich heritage in the region. You will also discover the artistry of local craftsmen and their innovative techniques utilizing zinc, copper, and silver.
Next, the tour proceeds to the church of Santa Prisca, an exquisite basilica showcasing Spanish-Baroque architecture notable for its intricate decorations, an altarpiece depicting the Souls of Purgatory, and an elegant ribbed vault. This site stands as a symbol of the region's craftsmanship, intertwined with its mining history.
Following the church visit, you’ll immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the Zócalo, or Plaza Borda. You will have two hours of leisure to continue wandering through its charming colonial streets, seeking out temples such as San Bernardino de Siena, San Miguel Arcángel, or San Nicolás. Don't miss the chance to savor the delicious local dishes at one of the restaurants!
Finally, we will transport you back to your hotel in Acapulco, with an estimated arrival time around 7 pm.
