Kumasi Day Trip
At the arranged time, we will pick you up at your hotel in Accra to start the Kumasi excursion. Our first stop will be the Manhyia Palace Museum, where we will learn about the Ashanti people through a documentary and a tour of the palace's original rooms. We will also discuss the significance of Yaa Asantewaa in the Ashanti rebellion.
Next, we will visit the Okomfo Anokye Sword Site, known for the immovable sword of Okomfo Anokye that has been embedded in the ground for nearly 300 years. It is said that if it were ever removed, the Ashanti state would fall.
After a break for lunch on your own, we will head to the Prempeh II Museum, a replica of an Ashanti chief's house, showcasing ceremonial clothing, jewelry, protective amulets, and royal regalia. We will also explore the Kejetia Market, one of the largest markets in Ghana.
On our return to Accra, we will visit the Bonwire Kente Weaving Centre, the birthplace of the popular kente fabric, used by the Ashanti king. We will conclude the 15-hour excursion by returning to your accommodation in Accra.
