Kumasi Day Trip
We will pick you up at your hotel in Accra to begin the excursion to Kumasi. Our first stop will be the Manhyia Palace Museum, where we will view a documentary on the history of the Ashanti people and visit the original palace rooms to understand the importance of the Ashanti Empire.
Next, we will visit the Okomfo Anokye Sword Site to learn about the Ashanti nation's founding. This site features the immovable sword of Okomfo Anokye, which has remained lodged in the ground for almost 300 years, with beliefs surrounding its significance.
We will take a break for lunch before proceeding to the Prempeh II Museum, a replica of an Ashanti Empire chief's house. At this location, we will view ceremonial clothing, jewelry, protective amulets, personal items, furniture, and royal regalia. We will also experience local life at the Kejetia Market, one of Ghana's largest markets.
On our return to Accra, we will visit the Bonwire Kente Weaving Centre, recognized as the origin of "kente", the fabric favored by the king of Ashanti.
After 15 hours of excursion, we will return to your accommodation in Accra.
