The eruption of Mount Vesuvius caused devastation to the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. On this day trip, we will discover what these cities were once like.

Description

At the scheduled time, you will be picked up at your meeting point and driven to the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, buried by the lava and ash from the eruption in 79 AD.

Upon arrival at the archaeological site, a guided tour lasting approximately 2 hours will commence, highlighting landmarks such as the House of the Faun, Amphitheatre, and the House of Menander. Questions about the citizens’ lives and the eruption will be addressed during the tour. Following this, you will have 1 hour of free time for lunch in the local area.

After lunch, we will travel to Herculaneum, which also suffered from the eruption. The tour will explore well-preserved remains, particularly the Casa dei Cervi (House of Deer) and the Sacello degli Augustali (Shrine of Augustales). A visit to a local cameo workshop will follow before returning to the meeting points after approximately 8 hours.
