- 8 Stunden
An abandoned city and one of the most impressive cisterns in India are the two attractions that await you on this day trip to Fatehpur Sikri and Chand Baori from Agra. Ready to be amazed?
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Agra and then set off to Fatehpur Sikri, driving for about an hour to reach the site.
Fatehpur Sikri is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as a well-preserved ghost town. We'll explore its remarkable combination of Indian and Arabian architecture. This city, built by Mughal emperor Akbar in the 16th century, was inhabited for less than 20 years due to water scarcity.
During the visit, we'll see the Buland Darwaza Gate, the mosque, the tomb of saint Salim Chishti, among other landmarks.
After exploring Fatehpur Sikri, we'll travel for two hours to Abhaneri to visit the Chand Baori cistern, one of the most picturesque sites in Rajasthan. We will discuss its history dating back to the 9th century and its significance as the deepest stepwell in India.
We'll conclude the excursion after 8 hours, returning you to your hotel in Agra or dropping you off in central Jaipur if preferred.
