Tour of Tepezalá & Real de Asientos
Beginning at 10 am, our journey initiates with a pickup from your accommodation in Aguascalientes, proceeding towards the town of Tepezalá.
Upon arrival, we will explore the Antonio Reyna Museum. This museum offers an insightful glimpse into Tepezalá's past, featuring engaging displays of historical artifacts alongside informative panels. Additionally, we will delve into the culture of the Guachichil and Chichimeca peoples.
Next, our itinerary includes a visit to the Church of Nuestro Señor de Tepezalá. This sacred site, dedicated to the Black Christ, holds an intriguing legend that we will uncover. Following this, we will visit the Church of Nuestra Señora del Refugio, known for its exquisite gold filigree and distinctive wall decorations.
Continuing our adventure, we will head to the Magical Town of Real de Asientos. As we arrive, the charming colonial architecture crafted from pink stone will captivate you. Our first stop will be the town’s Mining Museum, home to an extensive collection of minerals sourced from local mines, as well as transport carts, drilling equipment, and even fossils of mammoths.
Following this, we will descend a few metres underground to tour some 17th-century tunnels, ingeniously constructed to guard against moisture within the churches. Here, we will also admire the local cemetery and ossuary.
On the outskirts of Real de Asientos, we will discover the former Convent of the Señor del Tepozán. This historical site showcases a variety of religious artifacts and objects belonging to the Huachichil culture.
In conclusion, we will return to Aguascalientes, reaching your hotel by approximately 3 pm.
