Explore the picturesque villages of Provence while savoring fine wine on this day trip that encompasses Avignon, Châteauneuf du Pape, and Les Baux. Additionally, you will have the chance to witness a remarkable aqueduct with a history spanning 2000 years!
Description
Our journey begins at the appointed time at the Aix-en-Provence tourist office, from where we will travel northwest towards Les Baux de Provence, a scenic one-hour drive.
Upon arrival, take the time you need to wander through this enchanting medieval village nestled in the Alpilles mountains. The vista from its ancient castle is truly breathtaking! Next, we'll visit the Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we'll pause to admire its impressive architecture.
After a short drive of about thirty minutes, we will reach Avignon. You will have free time to enjoy lunch and, if you choose, explore the Papal Palace and the iconic Avignon Bridge, among other significant attractions of the city.
Later, our route will lead us to a panoramic tour of Châteauneuf du Pape, where you can appreciate its charming stone structures and the remarkable castle that has stood for 800 years. A visit to a local winery will delight those interested in a wine tasting experience. Cheers to that!
The excursion concludes back at the original meeting point in Aix-en-Provence, spanning a total duration of 9.5 hours.
