Discover the ancient Peruvian tradition of wool weaving and dyeing on this trip to the indigenous Misminay community from Cusco. In this remote village, you will learn how Andean fabrics are produced by hand using techniques that have existed for centuries.
Misminay Community Trip
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 9 am and head northwest to the Andean community of Misminay.
Before visiting the community, we'll stop at the archaeological site of Moray and walk through the concentric terraces used by the Incas as a botanical laboratory.
After Moray, we'll cross the landscapes of Maras and enter rural Peru, reaching the picturesque Misminay.
Once there, a local guide will share the history and origins of the Mullakas Misminay community, where the lifestyle is based on agricultural and textile work supported by tourism.
During the tour, learn about the customs of the Misminay people, such as preparing the traditional uchucuta, a cream made with hot pepper and herbs. The visit to the Interpretation Centre will provide a deeper understanding of the community. You can explore the area or purchase local products made by the Misminays.
Finally, we will travel to Ollantaytambo to visit the archaeological complex, one of the largest in Peru, allowing you to explore the town and the local market.
Our trip concludes by returning to Cusco and dropping you at your hotel at around 3:30 pm.
