Askja Volcano Day Trip

At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri and travel inland to visit the Askja volcano.

During our tour, we'll enjoy the scenery of the north as we drive through the Lake Myvatn area to the Hrossaborg crater, taking the mountain road to Herðubreiðalindir, a green oasis in a volcanic landscape.

We will learn about the legend of the outlaw Fjalla-Eyvindur and what brought him to Herðubreiðalindir. Afterward, we will continue exploring Iceland's lunar-like terrain, previously used by NASA for astronaut training.

Upon arrival at the Askja volcano, we'll walk along trails surrounding its craters and lakes, stopping at two locations: Askja and Viti. You can also enjoy a bath in a hot springs lagoon.

Before returning, we'll visit the canyon of Drekagil, located between striking black walls.

Finally, we'll make our way back to Akureyri, with the excursion concluding at 8 pm.
