Diamond Circle Tour of Dettifoss, Húsavík, Lake Mývatn & Ásbyrgi

Visit some of the incredible natural areas in the Diamond Circle on our tour of Dettifoss, Húsavík, Lake Mývatn & Ásbyrgi. We'll explore one of the most famous routes in North Iceland and see breathtaking views.

Tour Details

Having picked you up from your hotel in Akureyri at the designated time, we'll set off on our tour around the must-see spots in the Diamond Circle: Dettifoss, Húsavík, Lake Mývatn, and the Ásbyrgi Canyon.

The first stop will be Goðafoss, the "Waterfall of the Gods." Next, we will visit Lake Mývatn and the surrounding volcanic area, including Hverir, the most active geothermal area in Iceland, where we will observe steam and sulfur emissions. We will then head to the Viti crater near the Krafla Volcano.

Our tour will continue to the Dettifoss Waterfall, where you will experience its powerful flow of 200 cubic metres of water per second. We will then travel through the Jökulsárgljúfur Canyon to the Vesturdalur Valley, observing the Whispering Cliffs or "Hljóðaklettar," with their unique volcanic formations.

Finally, we will visit the horseshoe-shaped Ásbyrgi Canyon, believed to be a gathering place for Pagan gods. From there, we will make our way to the colorful town of Húsavík for some free time to enjoy a drink. We will return to Akureyri, completing our tour after a total of 9 hours.
