The Best of Northern Iceland: Godafoss & Lake Mývatn Tour from Akureyri
Our team will pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri at the designated time for an exploration of Godafoss Waterfall and Lake Mývatn. We will drive through notable locations in northern Iceland en route.
Upon arrival at Godafoss Waterfall, standing twelve meters (40 feet) high and thirty meters (100 feet) wide, you will witness the cascading waters of the Skjálfandafljót River amidst a volcanic landscape. This waterfall, known as "the waterfall of the gods," is historically significant as a marker of Iceland's Christianization.
Next, we will explore the volcanic region around Lake Mývatn, including ancient craters formed 2,300 years ago, a lava labyrinth, and unique rock formations. The tour includes a visit to a preserved cave, the cracks at Grjótagjá, the mud pots of Hverir, and the lava structures of Dimmuborgir. You will have the option to visit the natural baths of Mývatn.
After eight hours of exploration, we will return you to your hotel, concluding your Icelandic adventure.
