Explore a beautiful lake and its surroundings on our Lake Mývatn Day Trip. You'll venture to a volcanic region in northern Iceland widely considered to be one of the natural treasures of the country.
Lake Mývatn Day Trip
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri and set off in our minibus towards Lake Mývatn. On the way, we'll travel along the shores of Iceland's longest fjord, Eyjafjördur.
The first stop will be the Goðafoss waterfall, a site of historical significance from 999 AD, when pagan idols were thrown into the water.
Next, we'll continue to the Lake Mývatn area, renowned for its volcanic landscape. We will traverse the wetlands and observe the mouth of the Laxa River. Bird enthusiasts can expect to see various avian species throughout the trip.
We will then walk along the trails of Dimmuborgir, where you'll explore the ancient lava fields and unique rock formations. Throughout the day, we'll visit additional sites, including Hverarönd and Grjótagjá Cave, noted for its natural beauty.
The tour will conclude approximately 5 hours after it begins at the departure point.
