Lake Mývatn Day Trip
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri and set off in our minibus towards Lake Mývatn. On the way to our destination, we'll travel along the shores of Iceland's longest fjord, Eyjafjördur. We'll make a stop at the Goðafoss waterfall, significant in history for an event in 999 AD when pagan idols were discarded there.
Next, we'll continue to the Lake Mývatn region, known for its volcanic landscape. We'll explore the wetlands and observe the Laxa River, which flows into the lake. Bird watchers can expect to see a variety of avian species during this trip.
Following this, we'll walk the trails of Dimmuborgir, where you can view unique rock formations from ancient lava fields. The day will also include visits to Hverarönd and Grjótagjá Cave, noted for its beauty.
Finally, we'll conclude our trip and return to the departure point 5 hours after the start of the activity.
