Lake Mývatn Day Trip
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri and set off in our minibus towards Lake Mývatn. On the way, we'll travel along the shores of Eyjafjördur, Iceland's longest fjord, allowing you to appreciate the natural beauty of the area.
The first stop will be at the Goðafoss waterfall, a site of historical significance where, in 999 AD, pagan idols and relics were discarded. Following this, we will continue to the Lake Mývatn area, known for its remarkable volcanic landscape. We will travel through wetlands and observe the mouth of the Laxa River, which flows into the lake, providing opportunities to view numerous bird species.
Next, we will walk along the trails of Dimmuborgir, traversing lava fields formed two millennia ago, showcasing diverse rock formations. The rest of the day will include visits to sites such as Hverarönd and Grjótagjá Cave, renowned for its beauty.
We will conclude the tour 5 hours after the start of the activity at the designated departure point.
