Tour of Godafoss, Selfoss, & Dettifoss Waterfalls

On this tour of northern Iceland starting from Akureyri, you will explore three significant waterfalls: Godafoss, Selfoss, and Dettifoss.

Diamond Circle Tour

We will pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri and begin the tour around the Diamond Circle in northern Iceland.

The first stop is Godafoss Waterfall, known as the "waterfall of the gods" and significant for the Christianisation of Iceland. After learning about its history, we will visit Lake Mývatn to see its volcanic landscape.

Next, we continue to Reykjadalur Valley and the Skutustadir Craters. Our following stop will be Dimmuborgir, known for its lava formations over 2000 years old. We will explore the "dark castles" and visit Grjótagjá Cave.

We will also see Selfoss and Dettifoss waterfalls, notable for their size and beauty. The tour includes a visit to the hot springs of Grjótagja, offering time for a dip in the thermal baths near Lake Mývatn.

Finally, we will pass through Eyjafjordur to admire its fjord before returning you to your hotel in Akureyri, concluding this 9-hour tour.
