Join us on this whale watching tour in Iceland. As we cruise from Akureyri along the Eyjafjörður fjord, we’ll have the opportunity to see these marine mammals up close.

Activity Details

Experience whale watching on your trip to Akureyri. Meet your guide at the Oddeyrarbót floating pier at the scheduled time and prepare to encounter large marine mammals.

Board your whale watching boat and set sail from Akureyri across Eyjafjörður, one of Iceland's longest fjords. During the cruise, you can enjoy views from the cafeteria or the deck.

As you move away from the coast, you'll start to spot whales in the water. Your expert English-speaking guide will be available to answer any questions about these creatures.

After your 2 to 4-hour whale watching cruise, you'll return to Akureyri and be dropped off at the original departure point.

Whale Watching

Whales are unpredictable, and sightings may vary based on ocean currents, winds, and weather conditions. The Arctic climate can rapidly change, affecting animal behavior.

If whale sightings are challenging near Akureyri, the high-speed boat will take you to Hrísey Island, 35 kilometers from the departure dock, where whale populations are typically higher.

Duration of the trip may vary based on weather and locating whales. The activity respects the natural habitat of the animals, avoiding any disturbance.
