Learn about the history of the southern French town with this Albi Private Tour tailored for you and your party. A comprehensive way to explore this location in the Occitanie region.
Description
We'll begin the Albi private tour by meeting at the scheduled time at the Tourist Office.
First, we'll visit Sainte Cecile Cathedral. Inside this medieval temple, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we'll admire its Gothic paintings and artworks.
The size of the monument is impressive; it is known as the largest brick cathedral in the world. We will appreciate the decoration of its vault and sidewalls, which depict stories of the Creation, the Last Judgement, and the Resurrection.
The tour will continue to the Palais de la Berbie. This 13th-century palace, once the bishop's residence, now hosts the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum. This famous post-impressionist painter was born in Albi, and we will see several of his canvases. We will also enjoy the gardens of the Palais de la Berbie.
Then we will walk through the historic centre and along the banks of the Tarn to the Pont Vieux. Its construction began in 1040, making it one of the oldest bridges in France.
The tour will conclude 2 hours after the start of the activity.
