Meet us at Café Castello in Piazza della Repubblica, and we'll set off toward Erice and the Trapani Salt Pans for a memorable day trip through the Sicilian region.
After a scenic 1-hour drive, we'll reach our first stop - Erice. We'll explore the medieval town, stroll through its cobblestone streets, admire the Tower of Venus, and enjoy panoramic views of the Egadi Islands from the summit.
Next, we'll visit the Trapani Salt Pans, known for its artisanal salt production. We'll observe the mounds of salt and mills that shape the landscape, dating back to the 12th century when the Normans initiated extraction of this "white gold." We will also visit the Salt Museum for a deeper understanding of the historic landscape.
As we return to the meeting point, we will stop at a bakery for a cannoli, a traditional Sicilian sweet filled with ricotta. This will be the perfect ending to our day.
We will arrive back at the starting point in Alcamo after a thrilling 5.5 hours.
