Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the Piazza della Mercede in Alghero, in front of the church, to begin our day trip. Ready to explore the Necropolis of Puttu Codinu and Nuraghe Appiu? Let's get started!
After about 40 minutes of traveling, we'll reach Villanova Monteleone, in northeastern Sardinia. Did you know part of its territory is characterized by its typical Mediterranean forest vegetation?
First, we'll visit the Necropolis of Puttu Codinu. This is a Pre-Nuragic site built by Neolithic populations on two limestone outcrops, consisting of nine Domus de Janas, which are funerary structures with sacred symbols and archaic decorations carved into their walls.
Next, we'll explore the Nuraghe Appiu, an Iron Age settlement built with large volcanic rocks, located at the foot of Mount Cuccu. It holds many secrets yet to be uncovered.
After exploring Sardinia's archeological wonders, we'll begin our journey back to the meeting point in Alghero, concluding this 4-hour day trip.
