We'll meet at the La Braña restaurant in the town of La Raya. We'll get our equipment and headlamps on and start a nighttime snowshoe tour around the Fuentes de Invierno ski resort.

Depending on the weather, we'll walk around the base of either Torres Peak or Ausente Peak. During our 3 mile (5 kilometre) route, the night sky will envelop us as we ascend the slopes of the Asturian mountains. We'll encounter thickets and forests of birch and beech trees in this winter landscape.

We'll observe the stars and look for the most famous constellations, including the Big and Little Dippers. As we walk through the Cantabrian Mountains, we'll learn about the science behind snow and snowflakes.

After touring this setting, we'll return to the starting point to finish two and a half hours later.
