We'll meet at the selected time at the main entrance of the Plaza de Toros to begin this guided tour of Almendralejo, capital of the Extremadura region of Tierra de Barros.

To begin with, we'll visit the Huerta Montero Prehistoric Sepulchre, considered to be one of the most unique burial sites in Extremadura, over 4600 years old, used as a collective burial and place of worship in the Copper Age.

From here, we'll enter the historic center of Almendralejo to learn about the history of this Badajoz city founded by the Order of Santiago after Al Andalus. We'll visit the Gothic Church of Nuestra Señora de la Purificación, observing its Plateresque façade and Herrerian-style tower. We'll also see the Crucified Christ of Juan de Ávalos and a modern replica of the main altarpiece, destroyed during the Civil War.

Next, we'll go to the Monsalud Palace, an emblematic building in Almendralejo linked to the writer José de Espronceda.

Lastly, we'll visit the Teatro Carolina Coronado, a modernist theater dedicated to this Almendralejo-born poet. The three-hour tour concludes here.
