Explore Almeria's most important monument and the largest Arab citadel in Spain, the historic Alcazaba.
Itinerary
Meet your guide at the specified time on Almanzor street, outside the Alcazaba. This fortress, construction of which began in the 10th century, was later updated by the Catholic Monarchs after the Reconquista.
Admire the Jayran Walls leading up to the complex. Inside the Alcazaba, explore its three different walled enclosures while your guide provides insights into Islamic Andalusia.
Walk through the gardens of the first enclosure to the Muro de la Vela ('Wall of the Sail'), historically significant for its large bell that communicated alerts to the inhabitants of Almeria. The second enclosure features the Odalisque's viewpoint, offering views over the city and the port.
The guided tour concludes with a panoramic perspective from the Baluarte del Saliente before returning to the Plaza de la Constitución.
