Explore Almeria and its legendary history with an expert local guide as you visit the historic centre's most iconic monuments.

Guided Walking Tour of Almeria

We'll meet at the selected time in the Puerta de Purchena, home to the famous Butterfly House. You'll witness the impact of the Civil War through the Refugios, almost three miles of concrete tunnels used as air-raid shelters. Discover the Aljibes Arabes, well-preserved underground cisterns from the 11th century.

Next, visit the Cathedral of the Incarnation, originally built as both a fortress and a place of worship in the 16th century. Learn about the Virgin of the Sea sanctuary and its significance.

Proceed to the Escuela de Artes y Oficios art school, followed by the historic Teatro Cervantes, known for its legends.

Within a five-minute walk, explore the Doña Pakita Art Museum, showcasing Almerian art from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Finally, relax in the Parque de Nicolás Salmerón, situated between the port and the historic centre, and conclude your tour at the Cable Inglés loading dock, a notable example of 20th-century cast-iron architecture connecting the city's port and railway terminal.
