On this free tour of Altea, we'll discover this beautiful Mediterranean town with its white houses and bays that served as a refuge for pirates. You'll love it!
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet in front of the Altea City Hall to begin discovering the attractions of the town. We'll learn about the origin of Altea's name.
Our first stop will be at the Plaza de la Canterería, which represents the first neighborhood of Altea. We will then head towards the Bellagaurda neighborhood, characterized by its white streets adorned with bougainvilleas and flowers.
Next, we'll visit the Costera Pont del Montcau and reach Plaza del Agua, where we will see a Medieval water mill that has served the town since the 15th and 16th centuries. The tour continues up the Costera del Mestre la Música, consisting of 255 steps, until we reach the Portal Vell, the original entrance to the villa built in the 16th century. The Portal Nou will lead us to the fishing neighborhood of Altea.
From the Baluarte del Común, we will enjoy panoramic views from Calpe to Benidorm. We will also explore the Glorieta de Francisco Martínez and proceed up Calle de Santa Bárbara to Casa Cervantes. At the Plaza de la Iglesia, we will admire Nuestra Señora del Consuelo Church and its iconic domes.
The tour will culminate at the Cronista de España Viewpoint, offering impressive views of Altea, before concluding at Calle San Miguel, where you can explore local shops and artisan workshops.
